 Chairwoman of the Board, Dr. Mary Ann Reynolds Wilkins, Stewart Title



Dr. Mary Ann Reynolds grew up in Canyon, Texas.  The love of music in her family led her to pursue degrees in piano and organ and well as a Masters and Doctorate in Public School Administration. 

In her educational career, Dr. Reynolds served as a Teacher,  Principal, Associate Superintendent,  and University Adjunct Professor. As Interim Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD, she led a district of 50,000 students and 5,000 employees.

In 2000, Dr. Reynolds joined the great Stewart Title organization where she serves as Senior Vice President for Commercial Business Development. She is active in the Houston community and currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Jones Partners at the Graduate School of Business at Rice University; the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, the Houston Chapter of NAIOP; the American Red Cross, and she  is a Charter member of the new Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.  In addition, Dr. Reynolds serves on the Real Estate Advisory Committee for the Greater Houston Partnership Association. In past years, Dr. Reynolds also served on the Boards  of Directors for Leadership Houston, the Houston Ballet, the Houston Symphony, and Methodist Hospital of Sugar Land.  In 1999, she was the recipient of a national award from the American Heart Association for fund raising for medical research.

Dr. Reynolds is an accomplished pianist and has recorded three piano CD’s.

 Immediate Past Chair, Dana Kervin, Houston Association of Realtors



Dana Kervin, Chief Political Strategist for the Houston Association of REALTORS®, has dedicated more than fourteen years to enhancing HAR’s political process. With her leadership, HAR’s 24,000 members strive to develop mutually respectful relationships with over one hundred elected officials and numerous governmental entities over a five-county area.  Her insider knowledge of local government operations and relationships have assisted HAR in becoming the most sought-after endorsement in Houston for candidates and elected officials.

She gained her knowledge of local government operations and the political process through her twelve years of public service in the Harris County Attorney’s Office.  During that time, she was elected to serve as a Precinct Chair and served a four-year term. 

Her service includes a mayoral appointment to the Houston Housing Finance Corporation Board of Directors. In addition, she is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Government Relations Advisory Committee. Dana participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy Carter Work Project and served on the Port of Houston’s Community Advisory Group.   She is a graduate of the Leadership Texas Class of 2001.

Dana’s professional recognition includes being honored by the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, for raising political contributions for the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, as well as being named a Woman of Excellence by the Federation of Houston Professional Women. She has been awarded numerous Citations for Outstanding Service by Chairs of HAR.  In 2006 and 2007, Dana was recognized by the Houston Intown Chamber of Commerce as a “Woman in the Driver’s Seat of Real Estate.” In 2008, she co-chaired the “Women in the Driver’s Seat of Real Estate” luncheon and style show to raise money for women pursuing real estate degrees at Houston Community College.  She is honored to serve as the first chair of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

In her free time, Dana enjoys the theater, entertaining, biking, traveling, and the company of her daughter, Kim Shoemaker, her friends and family.

 Trinh Abrell, Blue Rock Financial Solutions



Daughter of a diplomat, the oldest of three girls, Trinh Abrell grew up wanting to follow in her father’s footsteps. The end of the Vietnam War left Ms. Abrell and her family stranded overseas without a country. She and her family moved to Paris, France and eventually settled in the United States in 1976.

Ms. Abrell did not pursue a career in politics but instead had many different careers, first as an educational toy consultant, a restaurateur, a landscape artist, a technical writer, an advertising copy editor, a web designer, a business analyst, a project manager, and an information technology manager.

Today, Ms. Abrell is CEO of a technology consulting company, Management Advisory Systems (MAS), focused on helping organizations meet business goals through the use of technology and better processes. Her company has helped hundreds of clients save time and money as well as expand their markets and achieve their strategic goals.  In 2008, Ms. Abrell moved MAS headquarters to Houston to better serve their clients all across the country and to expand their Oil and Gas and Healthcare practice.

Ms. Abrell serves on the Governmental Committee and Communications Committee at the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is also serves as Director of Special Projects for Virtuosi of Houston, a premier youth chamber orchestra in Houston. Virtuosi performs three major concerts a year, two at Zilka Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts and a special gala held annually in the spring. Ms. Abrell is also a member of the Women Energy Network and the Greater Houston Partnership, where she serves on the Leadership Committee of the Business Development Committee.

 Debra Anglin, Pate Engineers



Ms. Debra L. Anglin, P.E., has worked at Pate Engineers, Inc. (PATE) for more than 25 years.  During her tenure with PATE, Ms. Anglin has designed and managed construction of projects ranging from small commercial sites to major transportation corridors.  In 2006, Ms. Anglin was elected the first President of PATE following the original founding owner.  Ms. Anglin oversees the activities of the statewide practice including the Houston headquarters and four additional offices throughout Texas. 

Ms. Anglin is active in civic and professional organizations that support the growth and development of communities throughout the State. She has been active in the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce for over 13 years serving in many capacities including, Chairman of the Board and continues to serve on the Finance Committee.  She also serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Council for Texas A&M University.

Ms. Anglin serves on the Texas Council of Engineering Companies Board of Directors and is a member of their State Legislative Committee advocating for change in statewide policy regarding project financing, engineering education, and general policies impacting development throughout the State.

In her spare time, Ms. Anglin is a marathon runner and has set a personal goal to complete a marathon in every state in the U.S.

 Anness Bertrand, IBC Bank



Anness Bertrand VP of Retail Banking for IBC Bank (International bank of commerce) in Houston. She was born and raised in the Caribbean (Island of Dominica). She received her education in both Dominica and Barbados under the British education system.

Anness participates in several community activities and sits on the advisory board of the HCC banking committee. She was also a Previous-board member of the Alief YMCA. She was awarded and recognized by the Houston YMCA as project chair for fund raising activities. Anness Enjoys entertaining; traveling and spending time with her 19 year old daughter Dawn- Marie who is currently in college.

Suzanne Bruce is the founder and President of Suzanne Bruce and Associates, P.A., a multi-faceted dermatology practice in the Galleria area. The practice provides both medical and aesthetic skin care services to its patients and conducts dermatological clinical trials for major pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Bruce has been practicing dermatology since 1985. She is a graduate of Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  She served on the faculty in the Department of Dermatology at Baylor College of medicine from 1985 to 1997.

Karen Chin is a partner with B2B CFO, serving privately held companies as their part-time CFO, giving them access to large company CFO experience at a fraction of the cost.  Karen’s experience includes over 20 years with a Big-4 CPA firm and over 15 years as Controller and CFO.  Clients include professional service firms, manufacturing, distribution, private schools, medical practice and other industries. 

Karen enjoys broadening her network and finds the GHWCC a wonderful venue for meeting influential and extremely capable women in many industries.  In addition to serving on the Board of the GHWCC, Karen is on the Board of Rainard School for the Gifted and ERRA Incorporated.   She is a Life Member of the Greater Houston Partnership and serves as an Ambassador, a member of the Professional Services Council and the CEO Roundtable.  Other activities include the Asian Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Finance Exchange, Katy Area Economic Development Council, Professional Development Group, and the American Business Women’s Association.

A member of Chinese Baptist Church, Karen currently serves on the Personnel Committee and has previously chaired the Stewardship and Finance Committee.

Karen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  She is  Certified Public Accountant licensed in California.  She lives in Katy with her husband, Gene, and three of their five children.  Two children attend college:  one at San Diego State University and one at Baylor University.

 Sara Cronin, TPC Group



Sara Cronin has practiced public relations for more than 14 years.  Her career has included strategic communications planning and implementation for a variety of clients in the consumer, beverage, pipeline and manufacturing industries. 

She currently heads up the Corporate Communications team at Texas Petrochemicals.  Her team is responsible for all public relations activities, including employee communications/activities, media relations, community outreach and government affairs.

Prior to joining Texas Petrochemicals in 2001, Sara was a senior account executive at Neumann Roussel Public Relations.  Sara began her career as a reporter for Houston Community Newspapers.

Sara is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America.  She volunteers her services to LIFE/Houston and is a past board member.  She serves on the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Board and serves as a member of the Government Affairs Committee.  She is also a board member of the East End Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Education Task Force.

Paula Denney is a partner at the law firm of Jackson Walker L.L.P.   She represents employers, plan administrators, and insurers in ERISA, COBRA, Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA-related litigation and arbitrations.  Paula is also a Society of Human Resource Management Certified diversity trainer.  Every year since 2005, Paula has been recognized by Texas Monthly Magazine as a “Texas Super Lawyer.”   In addition to her work with the GHWCC, Paula is a member of the United Way's Alexis de Toqueville Society and its Women's Initiative.

Felicity Fowler is a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group of Haynes and Boone, and has more than 16 years of experience representing management in employment litigation and related proceedings. She is also the chair of the firm's Attorney Diversity Committee.  She counsels employers on all aspects of labor and employment law and is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in the field of Labor and Employment Law. Additionally, Ms. Fowler is a frequent lecturer on numerous employment law topics. Ms. Fowler has also represented parties in numerous employment arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) (now the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)), as well as other arbitration forums.

Ellie has over 20 years of non-profit expertise in fundraising, development, and event solutions, and corporate experience in strategic planning, finance and communications with Fortune 200 companies, including Halliburton and Union Texas Petroleum. She chaired the 2001 and 2009 Heart Ball, benefiting the American Heart Association, raising over $1 million for each Ball.

Ellie currently serves on the Boards of American Heart Association, Friends of Nursing for St. Luke's Hospital and the advisory Board of Dress for Success and Child Advocates and on committees for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Denise Hamilton is the Manager of Business Development for CB Richard Ellis, the number one commercial real estate firm in the world. In this position, she coordinates the pursuit of new business as well as the expansion of current services provided to clients.

Denise is a member of Power PAC, the Jamaica Foundation of Houston, and the Avenue CDC Marketing Committee. She is also a presenter and member of the Professional Women’s Group for Dress for Success and presents regularly throughout the Houston area.

Denise received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Communication from Abilene Christian University.

Denise was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Before moving to Houston, she was responsible for Marketing and Promotions for AOL in the South Florida region. Upon moving to Houston, she co-founded JONES Magazine. She also lead the sales effort as Member Acquisitions Manager for the Greater Houston Partnership prior to coming to CBRE. Lesia Holland-Nelson is Co-founder, President and COO of ContentActive, where she is responsible for sales, marketing and human resources. Prior to ContentActive, Ms. Holland-Nelson was a partner in the Retail Practice of the Consumer Products sector of Heidrick and Struggles, Inc., Consultants in Executive Search in New York City. In her role, Ms. Holland-Nelson focused on management assessment and consulting as well as executive recruitment.

Prior to entering executive search, Ms. Holland-Nelson's career included executive merchandising and marketing positions in retailing with Neiman Marcus and Federated Department Stores and in the fashion industry with Leslie Fay's Outlander division and Evan-Picone. In 1996, Ms. Holland-Nelson formed the Apparel Resource Group, Inc.; a consumer product focused consulting company specializing in brand positioning, organizational development and technology management.

Ms. Holland-Nelson is a well-known speaker in both the fashion and financial industries on consumer focused marketing and trend forecasting. She is also very active in the community in Houston, Texas, chairing the Business Leadership Council for the Greater Houston Partnership having been founding co-chair of its’ Advocates Committee, serving on Houston Technology Center’s Growth and Development Committee and its Executive Committee for the Emerging Technology Council, serving as a sponsor and judge for the Rice Business Plan Competition and its Advisory Board for the Rice Alliance I.T.-Venture Forum in 2008 and 2009. Ms. Holland-Nelson serves on the Board of Trustees for the Council on Alcohol and Drugs, Houston and is the former Advisory Board Chair for three terms. She serves on the Executive Committee for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign, is Membership Chair for the AHA Guild and is Chairing the Host Committee for the 2010 Bear Bryant College Coach of the Year Awards.

She also serves on the Boards of Directors for the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and is the 2009-2010 Leadership Committee Chair and will Chair the 2010 Annual Women’s Conference, TechCorps Texas, the Hermann Park Conservancy and The Holocaust Museum of Houston, the Board of Trustees for Goodwill Industries, the Board of Advisors for Houston Achievement Place and The Guild of Yellowstone Academy.

In 2009 she Co-chaired the Houston Community College Passion for Fashion Luncheon and will again in 2010, and the Bytes and Birdies Gala and Golf honoring TechCorps Texas in the 2009 and again in 2010 in Houston and Dallas.

Ms. Holland-Nelson was named one of "Houston's Fifty Most Influential Women of 2009" by Houston Woman Magazine.

 Pam Lovett, Sterling Bank



Pamela Lovett joined Sterling Bank in 2006 as Senior Vice President for Business Development and Community Affairs. Sterling Bank, with total assets of $5.0 billion, operates 60 banking offices in the greater metro areas of Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth. She is responsible for Sterling Bank’s charitable giving program and business development programs including Sterling Bank’s Women’s Business Initiative. 

Lovett is the former president of the Greater Houston Partnership's Economic Development Division. The Greater Houston Partnership is Houston's leading business organization. From 1997 through 2005, Lovett's team assisted in creating over 33,000 direct jobs and generating an estimated $8.3 billion in annual economic impact to the region. Site Selection magazine named her team one of the top 10 economic development teams in the country.

Before joining the Partnership, Lovett spent 18 years with AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She began her career with that company as an account executive in 1979 and rose consistently through the ranks. In 1996, she was appointed sales director.

Lovett serves on the board of directors of DePelchin Children's Center, Alley Theatre and Better Business Bureau Education Foundation.  She is on the advisory boards of the Junior League of Houston and the Houston Technology Center. She is a Senior Fellow and former board member of American Leadership Forum. Lovett was the first honorary member of Commercial Real Estate Women Houston.

Lovett holds a doctorate of jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. She graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

A native of Los Angeles, Denise attended UCLA and graduated from UC Santa Barbara.  She completed her Master’s degree at LSU in Baton Rouge.  Denise began her financial services career in 1988 at Dean Witter.  With over 20 years in the financial services industry, Denise has experience in the areas of personal trust services, residential and commercial real estate lending, and institutional fixed income trading.  Denise holds the Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses; Texas Life, Accident and Health Insurance license; and the certificate for the CFP Professional Education Program from the College of Financial Planning.  She is currently with RBC Wealth Management as a Financial Advisor.  Denise has been involved in a number of community and professional organizations including the Epilepsy Foundation of SE Texas – Board Member and Gala Chair; Professional Women’s Breakfast Club – President; NCJW – President; Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show – Trailblazer Committee member.  She currently serves as the Leadership Chair for the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.  Denise lives in the Rice University area of Houston with her beagle, PJ.  She is an enthusiastic skier, and enjoys working out, cooking, sporting clays and at some point will also enjoy being a real golfer!

Kerry McDonough is the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration of Energy XXI, an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company. Prior to joining Energy XXI, Ms. McDonough worked for Occidental Oil & Gas and has held various HR positions of increasing responsibility with Burlington Resources, Calpine Corporation, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management and HR Houston. Ms. McDonough holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Houston and Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University.

 Terry Morales, Amegy Bank

Terry Morales is a Vice President of Amegy Bank of Texas in the Commercial Lending Division, which primarily focuses on acquiring and retaining middle market commercial businesses.   Prior to joining Amegy, she was a Small Business Team Leader at JPMorgan Chase, and has been in the banking industry for 20+ years.

Ms. Morales has a BBA in Finance from the University of Houston, and is currently a board member of  Inprint, The Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, Latin Women’s Initiative, The Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority, University of Houston Friends of Women Studies, and The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

 Mary Morgan, BMC Software



Mary is a Senior Program Executive at BMC Software responsible for BMC’s Cloud initiative and Service Automation business unit.  Prior to re-joining BMC, Mary was a founder and Sr VP of two successful start-ups (Network Change/Configuration  and Identity Management) w/ broad responsibilities including Sales, Business Development, Professional Services, Product Delivery, Customer Support, and Product Management.  Preceding the two start-ups, Mary worked at BMC Software as Director for eBusiness with nationwide responsibility for the ISP, ASP and B2B exchanges.  Prior to BMC she worked at Cray Research and Unisys in various product and sales management positions.

Mary has chaired the ASP Industry Consortium’s Best Practices Committee on both Security and Management and Operations.  She has been a guest speaker at various industry forums such as Network InterOp.  She also currently serves on the board of Crisis Intervention.  She holds both an MBA and BA in Political Science from the University of Houston.  Mary is ITIL v3 Foundation Certified.

 Mary Kate Robinson, The Art Institute of Houston



Mary Kate Robinson has served as the Director of Career Services at The Art Institute of Houston since Jan. 2005, where her team was selected as one of the Top Five Teams out of all the EDMC colleges. 

Prior to her position at The Art Institute of Houston, she was the Executive Vice President of Integrated Performance Technologies where she was responsible for Sales and Marketing, Communication, and Business Development.  She also has served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce.  Her experience additionally includes serving as the Director of Communications for a billion dollar pension fund, the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund.  Robinson has a Bachelor of Arts in both Speech and Journalism from the University of Houston.  She also has a certificate in Secondary Education and has taught a variety of subjects, including speech and journalism, in the Houston area for 16 years.

And finally, she is a native 5th generation Houstonian, who believes in involvement and communication to be a positive contributor to Houston.

 Connie Smith, Minuteman Press Fort Bend




Connie holds Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science Degrees from Baylor University in Geology and a MBA from Southern Methodist University in Small Business Management.  Prior to starting her printing and graphic design businesses in January 2000, Connie worked as a geologist for nearly 20 years in the oil and gas industry. After tiring of the ups and downs of the oil and gas industry, Connie decided to take her career in a different direction after moving to the Houston area in 1999.   Her passion for graphic design and desire to work with people led her to establish Minuteman Press Fort Bend Printing in Jan. 2000.

Her greatest challenge was starting a new career in a new town where she knew virtually no one.  After over 10 years, Connie managed to grow her businesses by offering superb customer service, high quality standards, and a ”can-do” attitude that helps customers explore their options;  hence, leading to her infamous tag-line “If you can think it, I can ink it!”.

Connie is currently serving her 2nd year on the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Connie served 2 terms as President of the Houston Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and served as President of the Federation of Houston Professional Women (FHPW), which is an umbrella organization of 45 women’s business and professional organizations. She has remained on both Boards in various capacities.

She was awarded the 2005 Supplier of the Year Award through the Houston WBENC affiliate, the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance (WBEA).  She began her 6th year on the WBEA Board in January.

Connie serves on the Ft. Bend Advisory Board of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Houston and has been accepted into the 2010 class of Leadership Texas.
