Meet our Chair of the Board Dana Kervin, Houston Association of Realtors |
|
Dana Kervin, Chief Political Strategist for the Houston Association of REALTORS®, has dedicated more than fourteen years to enhancing HAR’s political process. With her leadership, HAR’s 24,000 members strive to develop mutually respectful relationships with over one hundred elected officials and numerous governmental entities over a five-county area. Her insider knowledge of local government operations and relationships have assisted HAR in becoming the most sought-after endorsement in Houston for candidates and elected officials.
She gained her knowledge of local government operations and the political process through her twelve years of public service in the Harris County Attorney’s Office. During that time, she was elected to serve as a Precinct Chair and served a four-year term. Her service includes a mayoral appointment to the Houston Housing Finance Corporation Board of Directors. In addition, she is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Government Relations Advisory Committee. Dana participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy Carter Work Project and served on the Port of Houston’s Community Advisory Group. She is a graduate of the Leadership Texas Class of 2001.
Dana’s professional recognition includes being honored by the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, for raising political contributions for the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, as well as being named a Woman of Excellence by the Federation of Houston Professional Women. She has been awarded numerous Citations for Outstanding Service by Chairs of HAR. In 2006 and 2007, Dana was recognized by the Houston Intown Chamber of Commerce as a “Woman in the Driver’s Seat of Real Estate.” In 2008, she co-chaired the “Women in the Driver’s Seat of Real Estate” luncheon and style show to raise money for women pursuing real estate degrees at Houston Community College. She is honored to serve as the first chair of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
In her free time, Dana enjoys the theater, entertaining, biking, traveling, and the company of her daughter, Kim Shoemaker, her friends and family.

Born Muskogee, Oklahoma. Graduated Stigler, Oklahoma High School Attended University of Oklahoma on football scholarship. Member Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Assistant Sports Editor, Oklahoma Daily, OU student newspaper. Graduated with BA in Journalism, 1966. Served in the US Army as an Infantry Platoon Leader in Korea and as Basic Training Company Commander, Ft. Polk, La. Received honorable discharge, 1969
Employed by Dun and Bradstreet, Houston, 1969-74, last as Manager-Reporting..
Joined Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Houston, July 1, 1974 as Business Office Supervisor. Held a variety of jobs in marketing, 1974-89, and in external affairs, 1989-present, for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, SBC and now AT&T.. Jobs include, Business Office Supervisor, Business Office Manager, Sales-Service Manager-Texas, Area Manager-Public Relations, Area Manager-External Affairs, Director-External Affairs, Regional Manager-External Affairs.

Meet Mary Kate Robinson, The Art Institute of Houston |
|
Mary Kate Robinson has served as the Director of Career Services at The Art Institute of Houston since Jan. 2005, where her team was selected as one of the Top Five Teams out of all the EDMC colleges.
Prior to her position at The Art Institute of Houston, she was the Executive Vice President of Integrated Performance Technologies where she was responsible for Sales and Marketing, Communication, and Business Development. She also has served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce. Her experience additionally includes serving as the Director of Communications for a billion dollar pension fund, the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund. Robinson has a Bachelor of Arts in both Speech and Journalism from the University of Houston. She also has a certificate in Secondary Education and has taught a variety of subjects, including speech and journalism, in the Houston area for 16 years.
And finally, she is a native 5th generation Houstonian, who believes in involvement and communication to be a positive contributor to Houston. |

Meet Karen Chin, B2B CFO |
|
Karen Chin is a partner with B2B CFO, serving privately held companies as their part-time CFO, giving them access to large company CFO experience at a fraction of the cost. Karen’s experience includes over 20 years with a Big-4 CPA firm and over 15 years as Controller and CFO. Clients include professional service firms, manufacturing, distribution, private schools, medical practice and other industries.
Karen enjoys broadening her network and finds the GHWCC a wonderful venue for meeting influential and extremely capable women in many industries. In addition to serving on the Board of the GHWCC, Karen is on the Board of Rainard School for the Gifted and ERRA Incorporated. She is a Life Member of the Greater Houston Partnership and serves as an Ambassador, a member of the Professional Services Council and the CEO Roundtable. Other activities include the Asian Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Finance Exchange, Katy Area Economic Development Council, Professional Development Group, and the American Business Women’s Association.
A member of Chinese Baptist Church, Karen currently serves on the Personnel Committee and has previously chaired the Stewardship and Finance Committee.
Karen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She is Certified Public Accountant licensed in California. She lives in Katy with her husband, Gene, and three of their five children. Two children attend college: one at San Diego State University and one at Baylor University.

Meet Dr. Mary Ann Reynolds, Stewart Title |
|
Dr. Mary Ann Reynolds grew up in Canyon, Texas. The love of music in her family led her to pursue degrees in piano and organ and well as a Masters and Doctorate in Public School Administration.
In her educational career, Dr. Reynolds served as a Teacher, Principal, Associate Superintendent, and University Adjunct Professor. As Interim Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD, she led a district of 50,000 students and 5,000 employees.
In 2000, Dr. Reynolds joined the great Stewart Title organization where she serves as Senior Vice President for Commercial Business Development. She is active in the Houston community and currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Jones Partners at the Graduate School of Business at Rice University; the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, the Houston Chapter of NAIOP; the American Red Cross, and she is a Charter member of the new Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Dr. Reynolds serves on the Real Estate Advisory Committee for the Greater Houston Partnership Association. In past years, Dr. Reynolds also served on the Boards of Directors for Leadership Houston, the Houston Ballet, the Houston Symphony, and Methodist Hospital of Sugar Land. In 1999, she was the recipient of a national award from the American Heart Association for fund raising for medical research.
Dr. Reynolds is an accomplished pianist and has recorded three piano CD’s.

Meet Debbie Anglin, Pate Engineers |
|
Ms. Debra L. Anglin, P.E., has worked at Pate Engineers, Inc. (PATE) for more than 25 years. During her tenure with PATE, Ms. Anglin has designed and managed construction of projects ranging from small commercial sites to major transportation corridors. In 2006, Ms. Anglin was elected the first President of PATE following the original founding owner. Ms. Anglin oversees the activities of the statewide practice including the Houston headquarters and four additional offices throughout Texas.
Ms. Anglin is active in civic and professional organizations that support the growth and development of communities throughout the State. She has been active in the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce for over 13 years serving in many capacities including, Chairman of the Board and continues to serve on the Finance Committee. She also serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Council for Texas A&M University.
Ms. Anglin serves on the Texas Council of Engineering Companies Board of Directors and is a member of their State Legislative Committee advocating for change in statewide policy regarding project financing, engineering education, and general policies impacting development throughout the State.
In her spare time, Ms. Anglin is a marathon runner and has set a personal goal to complete a marathon in every state in the U.S. |

Trinh Abrell, Management Advisory Systems |
|
Daughter of a diplomat, the oldest of three girls, Trinh Abrell grew up wanting to follow in her father’s footsteps. The end of the Vietnam War left Ms. Abrell and her family stranded overseas without a country. She and her family moved to Paris, France and eventually settled in the United States in 1976.
Ms. Abrell did not pursue a career in politics but instead had many different careers, first as an educational toy consultant, a restaurateur, a landscape artist, a technical writer, an advertising copy editor, a web designer, a business analyst, a project manager, and an information technology manager.
Today, Ms. Abrell is CEO of a technology consulting company, Management Advisory Systems (MAS), focused on helping organizations meet business goals through the use of technology and better processes. Her company has helped hundreds of clients save time and money as well as expand their markets and achieve their strategic goals. In 2008, Ms. Abrell moved MAS headquarters to Houston to better serve their clients all across the country and to expand their Oil and Gas and Healthcare practice.
Ms. Abrell serves on the Governmental Committee and Communications Committee at the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is also serves as Director of Special Projects for Virtuosi of Houston, a premier youth chamber orchestra in Houston. Virtuosi performs three major concerts a year, two at Zilka Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts and a special gala held annually in the spring. Ms. Abrell is also a member of the Women Energy Network and the Greater Houston Partnership, where she serves on the Leadership Committee of the Business Development Committee.

Meet Sara Cronin, Texas Petrochemicals |
|
Sara Cronin has practiced public relations for more than 14 years. Her career has included strategic communications planning and implementation for a variety of clients in the consumer, beverage, pipeline and manufacturing industries.
She currently heads up the Corporate Communications team at Texas Petrochemicals. Her team is responsible for all public relations activities, including employee communications/activities, media relations, community outreach and government affairs.
Prior to joining Texas Petrochemicals in 2001, Sara was a senior account executive at Neumann Roussel Public Relations. Sara began her career as a reporter for Houston Community Newspapers.
Sara is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America. She volunteers her services to LIFE/Houston and is a past board member. She serves on the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Board and serves as a member of the Government Affairs Committee. She is also a board member of the East End Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Education Task Force.

Meet Judy Gulgun |
|
Judy Gulgun transitioned into finance after spending 25 years in the fashion industry in the areas of product development and design, marketing, management and purchasing. During her first eight years in Houston, Judy was a member of the management team at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, as Retail Merchandise Manager and Buyer. Prior to her relocation here, Judy held corporate positions at several international textile and apparel manufacturers. Her recent experience includes assisting others as a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley.
Committed to giving back to the community, Judy concurrently serves on the Board of The Fort Bend American Business Women's Association as Publicity Chair and is an elected delegate to the Federation of Houston Professional Women. In 2008, she received the ABWA Protege Award and Friendship Star Award. Judy annually chairs the Ft. Bend ABWA Send One Suit Drive, benefiting Houston's Dress for Success program and is active in multiple non-profit initiatives. A nonstop networker, she is also a member of the Southwest Area Professional Exchange Network, Fashion Group International, Texas Wall Street Women and InHouston.
Judy studied abroad as an exchange student at The University of the Arts - London and completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Philadelphia University. She enjoys traveling and living abroad and has resided in Istanbul, Athens, London, San Diego, Baltimore and Philadelphia. Prior to relocating to Houston, Judy spent five years in Turkey working for Has-Nelson, an international vertical manufacturer, and represented the company on intercontinental visits. Always supportive of women's causes, Judy was an active member of both the International and American Women of Istanbul groups that helped raise funds to open the first shelter in Istanbul to assist women fleeing from domestic violence.
Judy Gulgun currently serves as the Board Liaison for the newly-formed SparkPlug Committee. She is enthused about working with this group of up-and-coming professionals and sees great potential for their professional and personal development.

Meet Susan Hill, Commercial Real Estate Women |
|
Ms. Hill is a Managing Director in the Houston office of HFF (Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P.) with over 21 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is primarily responsible for originating debt and structured finance transactions throughout the southern United States across all property types. During the course of her career, Ms. Hill has completed in excess of $2.0 billion in commercial real estate transactions.
Ms. Hill rejoined HFF in June 2004 after spending two years as a Senior Vice President, Senior Director at NorthMarq Capital. Prior to that, she spent fifteen years with HFF.

Meet Christine Malanczuk, Sterling Bank |
|
Chris Malanczuk is graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Chris started her banking career as a bank examiner with the State of Texas. She then spent five years with the FDIC, liquidating foreclosed real estate. Chris’ commercial lending career started thirteen years ago with Amegy Bank, formerly Southwest Bank of Texas. Chris has been with Sterling Bank for one and a half years and currently offices at the Bayou Bend location. Away from the office, Chris enjoys time with her husband of fifteen years, Rocky the golden retriever, Daisey the miniature schnauzer and Wheezy, an eight year old New Zealand white bunny rabbit. |

Meet Denise Marks, RBC Dain Rauscher |
|
A native of Los Angeles, Denise attended UCLA and graduated from UC Santa Barbara. She completed her Master’s degree at LSU in Baton Rouge. Denise began her financial services career in 1988 at Dean Witter. With over 20 years in the financial services industry, Denise has experience in the areas of personal trust services, residential and commercial real estate lending, and institutional fixed income trading. Denise holds the Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses; Texas Life, Accident and Health Insurance license; and the certificate for the CFP Professional Education Program from the College of Financial Planning. She is currently with RBC Wealth Management as a Financial Advisor. Denise has been involved in a number of community and professional organizations including the Epilepsy Foundation of SE Texas – Board Member and Gala Chair; Professional Women’s Breakfast Club – President; NCJW – President; Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show – Trailblazer Committee member. She currently serves as the Leadership Chair for the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Denise lives in the Rice University area of Houston with her beagle, PJ. She is an enthusiastic skier, and enjoys working out, cooking, sporting clays and at some point will also enjoy being a real golfer! |

Meet Kim Moffitt, Williams Gas Pipeline |
|
Kim Moffitt is currently employed at Williams Gas Pipeline in the Project Development and Execution Department. Her primary focus is analyzing financial impacts, forecasting, and budgeting for large Capital Projects.
Kim has a strong passion for diversity in the workplace, in life, and woman’s health issues. She is currently Co-chair for the Woman’s Business Resource Group Steering Committee at Williams. The group’s focus is to increase influence and visibility of the women at Williams and increase industry knowledge. Kim is also an active member in the Woman’s Energy Network (WEN) and is currently working on a committee for the annual Young Women Energized (YWE) event. YWE is an annual event aimed at educating young women about careers in the energy industry.
Kim has also been active with United Way, The Women’s Home, DePelchin Center, Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, and Ronald McDonald House.
Kim holds a BSBM – Business Management Degree from UOP.
